Frames of Frankfurt
the black shoe of frankfurt
At Hauptwache, a single black shoe sits on the stairs. People pass, the city keeps moving, and suddenly the entrance feels like a small stage.
Behind the sequence
A short Frankfurt story about movement, stillness, and what everyone walks past. Not much happens. Which is why it stays with you.
The sequence begins with a small find that does not exactly promise a story: a single black shoe on a stairway at Hauptwache. But the longer it stays in the frame, the more it starts to take over the scene.
The people in the photographs do not explain anything. They pass, descend, check their phones, cut through the edge of the frame. The shoe remains the fixed point, and the stairs briefly become a very sober Frankfurt stage.
I am less interested in what happened before. There is probably a perfectly ordinary explanation. The images hold the stranger moment instead: the city keeps moving, and a lost object quietly behaves as if the space belongs to it.
